The Bird Street/Belmont Terrace upgrade was expected to be completed in August, the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) says in a report to the Budget Monitoring Committee.
The report says that both phases 1 and 2 of the R19.3 million project are now running concurrently, adding that 87% of the budget had been spent by the end of May. The report says that the two parts of Phase 2 of the R15 million Kings Beach upgrade should also be completed by the end of August, while security equipment, linked to the municipality’s CCTV system had been installed in April. With regard to the Inner City Arts Project (Route 67), the MBDA says a delay resulted from the second tranche of funding from the National Lotteries Board that had only been received in October last year. It adds that the project will be completed by the end of this year.
