Chamber welcomes Gordhan decision on Local Business Tax

We are thankful for the rejection of the proposed local business tax by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan as the current business environment is under extreme strain to remain internationally competitive and sustainable. Any additional taxation on business – in no matter what form – would add immense pressure and put strain on businesses battling to operate within the current economic climate.

As a Chamber we are extremely mindful of the backlog in infrastructure spend, particularly within Nelson Mandela Bay and the province as a whole, but believe that there are particular funding channels at a national level that need to be accessed to address the critical backlogs that we are facing currently.
