Budget and Treasury will not sign off any new Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) capital projects, according to a report submitted to the Budget Performance Monitoring Forum. It explains that this is because the 2013/14 allocation was overspent, adding that only committed projects will be completed.
The overspending that was deemed to be unauthorised amounted to R146 million. According to National Treasury, the municipality has requested that R50 million be transferred from the Public Transport Network Operating Grant to the Public Transport Infrastructure Grant to make up the shortfall in funding.
