Province gets budget of R52.2 billion

The Eastern Cape Provincial Government has been allocated R52.2 billion as its equitable share of national revenue for the 2014/15 financial year.

In addition, the province has been allocated R1.3 billion as a Provincial Roads Maintenance Grant and R195.3 million as a Public Transport Operations Grant as supplementary funding towards public transport services provided by the provincial Department of Transport.

The Eastern Cape will also receive a substantially higher allocation of just over R1.6 billion for the eradication of inappropriate school structures – last year’s grant was R824.1 million. In addition, a total of R984.5 million has been allocated for the National Schools Nutrition Programme; R599.3 million as a Health Facility Revitalisation Grant and R1.45 billion as a Comprehensive HIV/AIDS grant.
