The industries traditionally categorised as “cultural or creative” (CCIs) include fine and performing arts, film, museums, libraries, music, and craft as well as the more commercial sectors such as design, architecture, advertising, and even computer programming.

The potential of these creative industries to grow employment, skills development, and tourism in the Bay region cannot be understated: we need creativity both for its intrinsic value, and for its market value.

A number of local initiatives, both public and private, have been launched with the specific intention of building and developing these industries within Nelson Mandela Bay.
