Congratulations to the Bokke for bringing home the gold!

The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber joins millions of South African patriots in congratulating our national rugby team the Springboks in their historic win on Friday when they dominated the English side in Japan, on Friday.

The crowning of Amabhokobhoko as the rugby World Cup champions reinforces the country’s status as a fierce rugby nation. It also shows the power of sports for social cohesion and nation-building, bringing together people from across all racial lines behind a common cause. But more importantly, the win epitomises the team’s true patriotism and a display of fortitude on what South Africans can achieve when we work together as a nation.

As such, we are convinced that this win will inspire the nation to re-evaluate itself and work together in finding solutions for the myriad of challenges engulfing the country. What makes this momentous victory even more special is the fact that the team was led by Siya Kolisi, the first black captain to win the World Cup. Not only that, he is a PE born boy and his victory is ours as Nelson Mandela Bay.

We are also equally proud of what the team has achieved, but more importantly, 5 other members of the team namely Rassie Erasmus, Mzwandile Stick, Makazole Mapimpi, Lukhanyo AM, Aphiwe Dyantyi, Lwazi Mvomvo, Sikhumbuzo Notshe, Elton Jantjies and Lionel Mapoe are all from the Eastern Cape.

As the Business Chamber, we would like to share our pride and to also congratulate the entire Springbok team on their historic win.
