The Desk is sponsored by Standard Bank and Borbet, acts as a single contact where business support, growth and sustainability initiatives are housed. This support, growth and sustainability is achieved through four pillars namely access to funding and professional banking advice, access to entrepreneurial and business skills development, access to one on one advisory support, and market access opportunities.  The support of the desk is structured as follows:

  • Access of funding and professional banking/investment advice: NMBBC has partnered with Standard Bank, who has availed dedicated personnel that assist SMMEs registered with the desk access funding through Enterprise Development loans; and access to contract and purchase order finance. The bank further provides SMMEs with advisory support related to investments, funding, and banking.
  • Access to one-on-one advisory support: SMMEs registered with the SMME desk get access to free advisory support that is offered pro bono by Oracle Media (digital marketing support); LabourNet (labour relations and compliance support); Kuyasa accounting (financial statements and tax support); Accounting and computer services (financial statements and tax support); SARS (SMME tax support); JGS (commercial legal matters support); and Itshe (business consultancy and advise support).
  • Access to entrepreneurial skills support: SMMEs registered with the desk get access to free entrepreneurial group training workshops.
  • Access to market: SMMEs registered with the desk get access to tender opportunities shared by NMBBC member companies, as well as various stakeholders. SMMEs further get access to shared exhibition opportunities, and trade platforms.
  • Access to Business Intelligence: SMMEs registered with the desk get access to research reports designed to equip and assist businesses with their decision-making.
