About Us

With around 700 member businesses and 160 years of rich heritage, the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber remains one of the most trusted, respected and authoritative voices on matters relating to local business and the economy.

The environment we operate in is changing at a rapid pace and requires ongoing agility to ensure that we robustly respond to issues that impact upon the sustainability of local businesses, the functionality of the operating environment, leverage economic growth opportunities, while simultaneously providing value-adding services to our members in the form of business-to-business networking opportunities, enterprise and exporter development programmes, informative publications, as well as workshops and seminars to name but a few.

For this reason, we have adopted a more activist, collaborative and action orientated approach in pursuing our vision of being the leading catalyst for Nelson Mandela Bay to retain and attract business.

The aim of the Business Chamber is to create an enabling environment and promote economic development in the Bay through various Chamber actions such as:

  • MSME and Entrepreneurship Committee,
  • Trade and Investment Committee, and
  • Task Teams (Water and Electricity, Safety and Security, Transport and Logistics, and Property)

Businesses sign up to become members in order to have a stronger and unified voice of the business community in the Metro.
