The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber is a non-profit organisation (NPO) representing a broad spectrum of businesses in Nelson Mandela Bay. It is one of the largest voluntary business associations in the Eastern Cape with a membership of businesses in a diverse array of sectors. The Business Chamber is leading business transformation by example, in its staff, Board and membership equity spread. In 2014, the Business Chamber celebrated 150 years of serving business in the Nelson Mandela Bay, since 1864.
The aim of the Business Chamber is to be a leading catalyst for economic development and the ease of doing business in the metro. The Business Chamber facilitates B2B linkages as part of the stimulation of economic progress in Nelson Mandela Bay. The Business Chamber also provides value-added services to members in the form of information updates, up-skilling seminars, task teams and networking functions.
The Business Chamber strategy - in being the voice of business - includes lobbying and advocacy, championing, partnering with civil society coalition and persuasion and pressure where appropriate. These actions aim to build a sustainable business environment in the Metro.
