The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber welcomes Absa Corporate and Investment Banking’s R180 million investment in its new regional offices on Cape Road, which has created an estimated 2500 jobs during the construction phase, marking a vote of confidence in the Metro’s potential as the Bay of Opportunity.

This investment underscores the metro’s importance as a destination for economic expansion, innovation and sustainable development; and supports our ongoing efforts to position Nelson Mandela Bay as a diverse investment and manufacturing hub on the African continent.

Absa is an active and valued partner of the Chamber through its active support of our Projects Desk, which is focused on progressing potential investment concepts, identified through our Local Economy Reinvention Think Tank, to pre-feasibility stage. The Desk is focused on progressing potential investment concepts developed through the Think Tank to pre-feasibility stage. With a focus on strategic sectors such as the hydrogen economy, renewable energy, micro-mobility, agro-processing and the low-carbon economy, this initiative supports our drive to unlock the immense potential of the Bay of Opportunity.

The Chamber commends Absa for its leadership and continued commitment to inclusive growth in the region. This investment further demonstrates that Nelson Mandela Bay is not only open for business but is rapidly asserting itself as a metro of innovation, collaboration and partnership.
