The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber has appointed Lungi Mtshutshwana as the new SMME Services Coordinator, effective January 2023, and will serve as a single point of contact in providing advisory and support services to members.

Mtshutshwana is no stranger to the Chamber as he previously worked as the Membership Participation and Events Coordinator before working for a brand and digital management company. He started his career at the Chamber as an intern in 2018, and was later appointed to coordinate various Chamber events and also build strong partnerships between the organisation and its member companies.

He holds a B Tech in Public Administration, a National Diploma and a Project Management certificate. He takes over from Lunga Mjodo who has been promoted to a Business Information Manager role, who now oversees the Chamber’s business intelligence and entrepreneurship desk initiatives.

“We are pleased to welcome Lungi into this role as he is adept to the Chamber’s new strategy and business landscape. More importantly, he understands the importance of the SMME sector and its role in creating employment to grow the local economy,” says Ashwin Daya, the Chamber’s chief operations officer.

Mtshutshwana will be reporting to Mjodo to help drive the strategic role of the SMME and Entrepreneurship Desk. The Desk facilitates the creation of an enabling environment for the SMME sector and also provides support by unblocking blockages within the SMME ecosystem. The Desk was established in April 2022 and has 116 businesses registered with it, of which almost 80% are black owned and 54% are female owned.
